What does Carrier mean?
The Carrier field identifies the shipping line associated with the tracking information.

Tracktainer can determine the relevant carrier from the shipment reference and then display the carrier information with the shipment.

For example, the existing Tracktainer Planned notification identifies the shipment as planned by Maersk Line.

Where can carrier information appear?
Carrier information can appear alongside other shipment details such as:

  • Booking Number

  • Container Number

  • Ports

  • ETD and ETA

  • Shipment events

Tracktainer's multi-container tracking structure, for example, includes both the Booking Number and Carrier in its details section.

Do I need to know the carrier before tracking?
Not necessarily.

Tracktainer supports automatic carrier detection from shipment references, reducing the need to identify the shipping line manually before starting the tracking request.
