Tracking a container with Tracktainer
If you already have the container number, you can use it directly to start tracking.

For example:

MSCU7283610

You don't need to visit the carrier's website first or manually identify the shipping line.

Step 1 — Enter the container number
Go to the Tracktainer tracking page.

Enter your complete container number into the tracking field.

Container numbers normally contain:

4 letters + 7 numbers

Example:

MSCU7283610

Make sure there are no unnecessary spaces.

Step 2 — Use Auto Detect
Leave the carrier selection as:

Auto Detect

Tracktainer will attempt to identify the carrier associated with your container.

Step 3 — Track the shipment
Click:

Track Shipment

Tracktainer will create the tracking request and begin retrieving available shipment information.

What information can I see?
Once tracking data is available, your shipment may include:

  • Container Number

  • Booking Number

  • Carrier

  • Port of Loading

  • Port of Discharge

  • ETD

  • ETA

  • Vessel information

  • Route information

  • Shipment status

  • Container milestones

Your current notification system, for example, already presents container number, booking reference, carrier and port information as part of the tracking details.

What happens next?
Once the shipment is being tracked, you don't need to enter the container number every time you return.

The shipment stays available from your dashboard while tracking is active.

Tracktainer can also keep you informed when important changes occur.
