Understanding Empty Return Milestones

 

What is an Empty Return event?
Tracktainer can report when a container has been returned empty.

For a single-container shipment, the current notification displays:

Empty return completed

and states that the container has been returned empty and tracking is now complete.

What information can I see?
The current empty-return structure can include:

  Empty return date
  


• 
  Gate-out date
  


• 
  Booking Number
  


• 
  Carrier
  


• 
  Shipment details
  

For example, the current single-container notification records the empty return date while also retaining the earlier gate-out date.

This gives you a clearer view of the container's post-gate-out progress.

What happens with multiple containers?
Tracktainer monitors empty-return progress at container level.

For example:

2 of 3 containers have been returned empty. 1 container is still pending.

That means one shipment can temporarily contain both:

✓ Returned containers

○ Pending containers

What happens when every container is returned?
Once all containers in the shipment have been returned empty, Tracktainer can mark the empty-return process as completed.

The existing multi-container notification states:

All containers for this shipment have been returned empty. Tracking is now complete.

Can I see gate-out and return dates together?
Yes.

The current notification structure shows the empty-return date alongside the earlier gate-out date for each container.

This is useful for understanding the timeline between those operational events.
